For 2019, Lands’ End partnered with the National Summer Learning Association (NSLA) on an initiative to promote the importance of quality summer learning opportunities for every child, every summer, in its commitment to education for all children, particularly the most vulnerable.
Through the Love Learning campaign, Lands’ End is leveraging NSLA’s vast network of experiential summer programs to shine a spotlight specifically on quality programs that bring learning to life in informal learning spaces and support families in meaningful ways. Particular focus will be given to summer programs that focus on environmental stewardship, STEM/STEAM (science, technology, engineering, math, arts) as candidates for the First Annual Lands’ End Love Learning Award. The award recipient of the prestigious Lands’ End Love Learning Award will be a well-rounded educational program with a dynamic vision.

Boston, MA ·Summer Connections is intended for rising 6th and 7th grade students who attend one of our School-Year Connections partner schools that are located in Boston’s under-served neighborhoods. Its theory of action directly addresses the goals of Boston’s Summer Learning Academies. Combining STEM-focused academics with Outward Bound’s renowned social-emotional learning (SEL) in a camp-like setting during the summer, this model has demonstrated success in improving Science, Math, English language arts and social-emotional development for students. These gains combat STEM summer learning loss, and the magic of summer camp on an island helps close opportunity gaps.
